Inspirational Quotes from Professional Early Childhood Leaders
Edward Zigler, Ph.D.: Vital Contributor to the Head Start Sector
“If you put kids
from all social classes together, they get the benefits of learning about one
another. And research now indicates that poor children’s education
accomplishments are greater when they are in classes with middle-class children
than when they are in classes only with other poor children (2007, p.12).”

Janet Gonzalez-Mena, MA: Vital Contributor of the Childcare Sector
“ There are many
equally valid ways to raise healthy children who thrive in the world.
Professional knowledge and experience are important, but we must never forget
how much we can learn from the families that we work with.”
“If what children
do at home is never mentioned, or worse, is considered strange by other
children and adults, children may refuse to speak their home language, eat
certain foods, wear certain clothes or follow certain religious practices
(2011, p.3).”

Deborah,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your blog post this week. I have always enjoyed reading and hearing audio pods of Janet Gonzalez-Mena. I can almost see the passion and dedication she has to children when I read her words. All educators must remember that we are important in each child’s life, but their family is the one that will be with them from birth to graduation. By respecting and welcoming family involvement, we are helping to create a better academic success rate for the children throughout their educational experience.
